Ro systems

Looking to get an ro filter and pump, I would like to be able to use a a shut off valve and only run water through it when I need it. I would need about a half gallon a day for top off and 20 gallons every other week for water changes. I wanna instal everything under my kitchen sink so it will be relatively close to my tank. Trying to avoid lugging tubs of water around the house.

Looking for suggestions and ideas as to what everyone else is using

Mines hooked to the main water line right off the pressure tank which happens to be in the fish room. I have 2 lines one directly to my sump and one to a 75 gallon holding container. Both the sump and holding tank have float valves attached. I also have an ASOV valve attached to the RODI so the waste water and feed lines shut off with back pressure. I do however want to add one more redundant shut off to my sump incase the float fails but its been fine so far. heres the part that shuts off the RODI feed and waste lines.

I plan on tying it in just like you mention Ian, my only issue is storing water. I would like to figure out a holding tank setup like yours but with 5 gallon jugs I could swap out as needed. I don't think I wanna lug more than that through the house lol

If A 5 gallon bucket fits the use it keep it simple just attach a float valve through a 5 gallon lid and just switch out with an empty one. Our vender Air Water&Ice has great products!!!

I have a similar setup to what you are trying to do. I bought a 7.5 gallon diaphram tank at lowes to go along with the RO system. It will store about 4 gallons of RO water at a time. I have the RO Filter and tank under the sink. There is a filtered water dispenser on the sink and a larger tube used for filling up buckets coiled up under the sink.

I have used spectra pure for more than 15 years in both of my homes and they are more money but the best knowledgeable tech guys around. they are more into laboratory grade industrial systems,but many high end reefers use them as well.. I use a drinking water kit by my sinkand then RO DI for top off and extra line for bulk water production. I use a LLC and float cut off for holding tank and then a litre metre 3 for dosing the top off with a kalk stirer. im not saying to buy all of these now but you can upgrade as you go. see link.

Thanks guys, sound like exactly what I need. The fiancé said "no more buckets in the house" lol, but I like the idea of having filtered drinking water available and think this is the ticket to get her on board

Is the pressure up pump requirement? Or is my well pump enough?

look into filterdirect on ebay they sell complete rodi units with diffrent size tanks, and ro faucet. i got my complete set up for about 150$

as for the pump you should get one, but not the electric pump, imo they are a waste of electricity. look at they type that just uses your drain water line, i think its called a permeate pump. again use ebay seller filter direct. super cheap. it hink its like $60-80 vs $150 on MD.

also more kudos for filter direct, if you buy multiple items send them a message and ask for free shipping. all items bought at the same time as a rodi unit will ship free with them.

I have a 5g ro pressurized water holding tank that came with my ro unit that I'm not using...Brand new with faucet that came with it. Not sure what it's worth, if your interested I'm sure we can work something out...I may have used some of the tubing that came with it, but you can find that at lowes.
